Jaylon Johnson Makes Bold Claim About Bears Contract Negotiations
By Thomas Erbe

Chicago Bears star cornerback Jaylon Johnson has reached the end of his rookie deal and is due for free agency. The Bears have three options: extend him, franchise tag him, or let him go.
We've heard both sides say how much they want the other, but the deal is still not done. There is obviously still some separation in price right now, but Johnson clued us in on how he feels this will turn out.
Jaylon Johnson is set to be a free agent this March if the Bears don't extend him before then or use the franchise tag on him.

So what's going to happen?
Johnson: "I think we get a deal done. I expect to get a deal done — let's say that."
Bears News: Jaylon Johnson Thinks a Deal Will Get Done
In his weekly hit with Parkins and Spiegel on Chicago's 670 the Score, Johnson was asked what the status is of his contract negotiations with the Bears. He confirmed there is no deal yet, but he believes and "expects" a deal to get done.
Johnson was elected to his first Pro Bowl this season after cementing himself as a leader on the Bears defense. Even with opposing offenses clearly avoiding him in coverage in their game plans, he still had 4 interceptions and one run back for a touchdown. He did not play in last Sunday's loss in Green Bay, and his absence was clear to everyone watching. He may have been just as much of a winner as the Packers because him not being on the field showed just how much his presence matters.
Johnson has said he wants to play in Chicago for his entire career. As the Bears plan for the future, it would be irresponsible of them to let the leadership and talent Johnson brings to Soldier Field every game walk out the door - especially since he wants to be here. This is a deal that should be done this offseason to lock him up long-term.
