The Chicago Bears returned to practice this weekend after playing in the Hall of Fame Game on Thursday night against the Houston Texans. The Bears look to improve from what they did on Thursday while preparing for the rest of their preseason slate.

Chicago saw a couple of their starting offensive linemen leave practice early on Sunday, which isn’t ideal with the start of the regular season only a month away.

ESPN’s Courtney Cronin reported that Teven Jenkins left the field with trainers after stretching, leading to Ja’Tyre Carter stepping in at left guard during OL drills.

We haven’t received any more updates about Jenkins, but the hope is whatever happened to him isn’t serious and more just a precaution. Bears fans weren’t ecstatic about this news from Cronin as Jenkins has struggled to stay healthy in his NFL career.

The former second-round pick has started in 24 out of 51 possible games, which isn’t a good ratio for a player looking for a new deal

Last season, Jenkins started in 11 out of 13 games played after beginning his NFL career as a tackle in 2021 and ultimately moving to right guard. The former Oklahoma State o-lineman is set to be the Bears’ starting left guard this season, with Nate Davis at right guard.

However, Davis reportedly left the practice field during OL/DL drills as he talked to trainers and took his pads off. It was the first practice for the veteran offensive lineman after going down with an injury on July 27.

Bears fans will wait to see what head coach Matt Eberflus says after practice about Jenkins and Davis’ early exits.
