Hometown Hero Lands an Opportunity With Chicago Bulls
The Chicago Bulls have fully embraced the rebuild this offseason. After failing to make the playoffs for six of the last seven years, the Bulls wanted to go in a different direction.
They traded Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Josh Giddey. Chicago also decided to let DeMar DeRozan walk in free agency. In addition, they drafted Matas Buzelis and are ready to build the foundation up from the bottom.
Now on Wednesday, the Bulls have added a hometown hero to the team ahead of the 2024-25 regular season.
Bulls News: Chicago Adds Talen Horton-Tucker
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, the Bulls have agreed to terms on a partially guaranteed deal with guard Talen Horton-Tucker.
This is a reunion for Horton-Tucker, who is a Chicago native. The Iowa State product hasn't lived up to the expectations since entering the NBA but is still a solid role player in the league.
The 23-year-old has a good feel for the game with the athleticism to attack downhill. He can also create shots for his teammates and uses his length to be a pesky defender.
In his career, Horton-Tucker averages 9.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game. Now he'll have a chance to make a name for himself with the Bulls and help rebuild this team back up.
This will be his third team in the NBA but this place has a special team in his heart. He may have some extra juice playing for his hometown team this season.
