Adding Depth to the Trenches

. Zak Zinter . 485. Zak Zinter Embed. . Guard. 4. Round 4, Pick 122. Zak Zinter . player

Zinter unfortunately suffered a broken tibia and fibula in November of last year. Prior to the injury he was widely considered one of the top guards in the upcoming draft. He is likely to go in the fourth round, so the Bears can grab him and ideally let him sit a year before possibly taking over a starting role in 2025.

Teven Jenkins and Nate Davis have both missed time due to injury and Jenkins will be up for a new contract after this season so who knows where the Bears will stand in terms of interior offensive line. Coleman Shelton and Ryan Bates were also added, but neither are considered to be long-term solutions.

He is definitely a better run blocker than pass blocker, but that is not as big of an issue when playing guard and having help on either side. PFF rated him as their 24th overall guard last season, but 185th in pass protection grade out of 588 qualified players. For comparison, he was rated 33rd in run blocking.
