DeMar DeRozan Says Goodbye to Bulls in Touching Post
By Cem Yolbulan
The DeMar DeRozan era in Chicago is officially over. After three productive seasons with the Bulls, the six-time All-Star just signed with the Sacramento Kings in free agency. A beloved figure among the Bulls fanbase, DeRozan always gave it his all and carried himself with class.
That was once again the case in his goodbye message to Bulls fans. Thanking the organization, front office, coaches, and the fanbase for the past three years, DeRozan said he will cherish those memories forever.
DeMar DeRozan Shares Funny Goodbye Message to Bulls Fans
The best part of his message came at the end when DeRozan jokingly said, "I know the nightmares started already knowing you will face me in another jersey."
Seeing DeRozan wearing another jersey will indeed be difficult. He was the Bulls' best player for the past three years, after all. He never got hurt, playing in 229 regular-season games, averaging 25.5 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game on 49.6% shooting from the field.
What hurts even more, however, is how DeRozan's departure took place. The 34-year-old was reportedly open to staying in Chicago but the sides couldn't agree on an extension. Yet, for some reason, the Bulls still held onto him past the trade deadline instead of trading him and getting assets in return. Now, Chicago ended up losing its best player for nothing in free agency.
DeRozan joins Domantas Sabonis and De'Aaron Fox in Sacramento to form a formidable trio. The Kings are trying to become a consistent playoff contender in the Western Conference and they now have a great culture-setter and a high-level offensive dynamo in DeRozan to help them get there.
