The Chicago Bears have officially selected USC quarterback Caleb Williams as the first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. There has been plenty of speculation. Moving on from Justin Fields closed the deal when he got traded to Pittsburgh. It is a new era in Chicago, with plenty to be excited about. The Bears finally have a franchise quarterback, and the future is bright.

My draft grade for this selection probably won't surprise you.

Caleb Williams Draft Grade: A+

It is a no-brainer. The Chicago Bears selected unarguably the best prospect in the 2024 NFL Draft. Caleb Williams is an upgrade at quarterback. Ryan Poles is resetting the rookie contract at quarterback. Williams is changing the course of the team potentially for decades.

What does Caleb Williams bring to the Chicago Bears? An elite playmaker who can do it all. A Swiss Army Knife is a common metaphor applied to his game. A rocket arm provides the team with a deep ball threat.

Caleb Williams has elite arm talent. He has the power and strength with his deep ball. It gives the Bears plenty of options in offensive coordinator Shane Waldron’s offense.

His accuracy provides the Bears offense with an elite playmaker at the quarterback position. And it helps to have weapons on offense. Usually, teams drafting a quarterback first overall don’t have the weapons needed to run a successful offense.

Williams is walking into a unique situation. Trading for D.J Moore last year and Keenan Allen this year, Williams has two veteran wide receivers he can go to early on. Add two tight ends in Cole Kmet and Gerald Everett, and the Bears have a formidable offense that could be a top-ten unit next season.

That's before we even mention a deep running back room led by free agent signing D’Andre Swift, Khalil Herbert, and second-year guy Roschon Johnson providing help in the backfield. Williams has the weapons necessary to help utilize his arm strength to his advantage.

Williams has a great deep ball. His ability to play outside the pocket, extend the play, elude the defense, and be accurate on the fly are all essential tools. The comparisons to Mahomes and Rodgers are understandable.

He has shown how great he is on tape. The character is outstanding. The confidence is there, and he has all the tools to finally solve the issue that has plagued the Bears for many decades. The Bears found their franchise quarterback.

A+. Quarterback. USC. Caleb Williams. Williams
