Chicago Bears 7-Round Mock Draft: Strengthening the Defensive Front
The Chicago Bears have been on the clock for some time now, but we do have a little more insight to what the direction of the franchise will be. With Justin Fields finally being traded, the Bears will draft the next signal-caller to hopefully be the face of the franchise for the next decade or more.
The NFL combine has came and went along with a handful of Pro Days. We are now at the point of top-30 visits and further interviews to solidify teams' draft boards. The Bears currently hold only 4 picks in the draft after sending away two of their own in the Ryan Bates (5th round) and Keenan Allen (4th round) trades. However, they do have two picks in the top 10.
Let's jump into a mock draft with a month to go until the actual event kicks off.
1. Caleb Williams (No.1 Overall)
There are no surprises to start this draft. Williams is the top quarterback on most boards and for good reason. The 2022 Heisman winner is full of eye-popping highlights that should have Bears fans very excited. Some arguments have been made that he is simply a backyard quarterback in that he will run around and make a couple of crazy throws, but cannot play within a structure. DaWindyCity Productions put together a nice lengthy video disputing that.
Williams finished his college career with 10,082 yards, 93 touchdowns, and only 14 interceptions. This also may be the best situation a rookie quarterback has walked into in the history of the sport from a pure X's and O's standpoint. The Bears offense can potentially be very scary, very quickly if Williams is as advertised.
