Caleb Williams' anticipated Bears debut didn't go according to plan and the first-overall 2024 NFL Draft pick was the first to acknowledge that he must improve in order for Chicago to reach the heights fans are dreaming of.

Despite escaping with a 24-17 victory, Williams noticably struggled. He completed only 14 of 29 passes for a paltry 93 yards (3.2 yards per attempt) with a 55.7 passer rating. Considering the mammoth expectations entering Week 1, Williams was less than impressive.

All that matters is the win though, and the Bears' QB knows he has a lot to learn from. Judging by the way he responded in the post-game press conference, the future remains bright as ever for Williams and Chicago.

Caleb Williams Admits Bears Debut Was Disappointing

The Titans got off to a 17-0 lead before a series of laughable miscues let the Bears right back into the game. Williams made some key plays down the stretch to keep the score within reach, though Chicago's defense was the reason they emerged victorious.

With an offense that includes Williams, DJ Moore, Keenan Allen, Rome Odunze, and D'Andre Swift, the sky remains the limit provided Williams doesn't repeat the same mistakes.

The former Oklahoma and USC standout is correct that "resilience" is a great phrase to describe the victory. All's well that ends well, yet it's still clear that the annointing of Chicago as a true Super Bowl contender feels premature after one week.

That being said, it's only one game. The Bears will face the promising Texans in Week 2 on the road before matchups with the Colts and Rams. Williams' pedigree suggests this could be the worst game he plays all season, and it sounds like he's ready to make the necessary adjustments to ensure that's the case.

It was a frustrating debut for such an exciting prospect, though Chicago still has control of its destiny with everything in front of them after pulling out a dramatic victory.
