Caleb Williams' Friend and Former Teammate Invited to Bears Rookie Camp
As the dust has settled on the NFL Draft, the next step is about preparing for the 2024 season. Not many other teams around the league improved more than the Chicago Bears.
Before the draft even rolled around, the Bears added the likes of Keenan Allen, D'Andre Swift, and Kevin Byard.
In last week's three-day event, they selected two Day 1 impact players in QB Caleb Williams and WR Rome Odunze.
They kept adding to the roster with UDFAs and other camp invites. GM Ryan Poles has decided to invite a former friend and teammate of Williams.
Bears News: Chicago Invited WR John Jackson III to Rookie Camp
According to ESPN's Courtney Cronin, the Bears have given former USC WR John Jackson III an invite to rookie camp.
Jackson III and Williams were teammates together in 2022 with the Trojans, which was Williams' Heisman winning season.
Jackson III just snagged one catch for 3 yards during the season but their relationship off the field is what got them close. Jackson III and Williams are known as best friends, which could have been a bonus for him getting an invite.
In his collegiate career, Jackson III recorded 40 receptions for 309 yards.
For the California native, it'll be an uphill climb for him to stick on the roster. The Bears top three options are Allen, Odunze, and D.J. Moore. They also have Dante Pettis, Tyler Scott, and Collin Johnson as depth options.
But regardless you only need one chance to make a statement in the NFL.
