Bulls’ Zach LaVine Trade Hopes Revived After Latest News
By Cem Yolbulan
The Zach LaVine saga in Chicago continues. The Bulls, who are seemingly retooling after trading Alex Caruso and most likely letting DeMar DeRozan leave, have been searching for a way to trade Zach LaVine. So far, they had not been able to find one, and Bulls fans had begun to lose faith in the possibility. There was a growing concern among the fanbase that the 29-year-old shooting guard and his massive contract that extends until the end of the 2026-27 season were going to be impossible to move.
However, KC Johnson of NBC Sports Chicago provided a somewhat optimistic update about the situation. In his appearance on the Bulls Talk podcast, Johnson said there are two teams who are still interested in trading for LaVine.
"I've been led to believe that there are two teams that are still at least having conversations with a glimmer of hope, however you want to phrase it... What I will say is I’ve written the Kings and Warriors are the two teams I’m still monitoring...It is fluid but, yes, it is still an organization priority to try to trade Zach."

The Golden State Warriors and the Sacramento Kings have largely been quiet this offseason. The Warriors lost Klay Thompson and Chris Paul and signed De'Anthony Melton but they need a major upgrade to maximize their playoff chances in the final stretch of Steph Curry's career. If they fail to pull off a trade for a cheaper All-Star like Lauri Markkanen, one could easily see them trading for LaVine.
Sacramento has long been linked to LaVine. They have been looking for a third star next to De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis. LaVine is not the most seamless fit due to the defensive concerns but he would make the Kings offense much more dynamic and dangerous.
The Bulls will likely not get a haul in return for LaVine at this point but getting any additional financial flexibility so that they can start focusing on their future would be a massive win.
