The Chicago Bulls haven’t been the most dominating team at the NBA 2K25 Summer League in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, the Bulls have seen a couple of players on their summer league roster put together some outstanding performances.

Rookie Matas Buzelis looks like the real deal after a few solid performances and highlight plays in the summer league. Bulls fans cannot wait to see what he can do in the regular season. Then there’s free agent guard DJ Steward, who turned in a ridiculous performance on Friday against the Atlanta Hawks.

Steward, a Chicago native, scored 37 points an efficient 11-of-19 shooting from the field and 8-of-13 from three-point range. He also dished out seven assists and grabbed three rebounds in a four-point win for the Bulls.

The 22-year-old guard’s performance against the Hawks caught the attention of the Bulls’ front office and they decided to keep him in the organization heading into next season.

On Sunday, ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the Bulls are signing Steward to a two-way contract. Steward averaged 17.4 points per game in the NBA 2K25 Summer League and shot 47 percent from the field and 40 percent from beyond the arc.

The former Duke standout will fill the last two-way spot for the Bulls as the other two slots are occupied by Adama Sanogo and Andrew Funk.

Before joining the Bulls in Las Vegas for the summer league, Steward spent this past season in the NBA G League with the Maine Celtics. Steward averaged 19.4 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 4.0 assists per game during the regular season with Maine.

Bulls fans will likely not see a ton of Steward this coming season, as he’ll spend most of his time with Windy City in the G League. However, if the 6-foot-2 guard can continue to score and shoot at a healthy clip next season, the Bulls could take the two-way tag off and sign him to the 15-man roster.
