The Chicago Bears were one of the several teams that opened up training camp last week, as fans are excited to see how things will play out in the Windy City this season.

The Bears enter training camp this summer with a lot of talent on both sides of the ball, which they couldn’t say last year. With Chicago having many talented players, it will make things harder to pair the roster down from 90 to 53 by the end of the preseason.

Speaking of the 90-man roster, the Bears made a small roster move Sunday after their second day of practice, bringing back a familiar face to the defense. Chicago signed linebacker Javin White, who was with the Bears for training camp in 2022.

The 27-year-old linebacker didn’t make the Bears’ 53-man roster or practice that summer. White suffered a torn ACL in the summer of 2023, which hindered him from signing with an NFL team.

However, White found his way back to the gridiron as he played with the Michigan Panthers in the UFL this year. The 6-foot-3 linebacker didn’t produce any eye-popping stats but played well enough on one the best defenses in the UFL. White recorded 29 total tackles and two sacks.

With the Bears being set at starting linebacker with Tremaine Edmunds and TJ Edwards, White is competing for a roster spot behind Jack Sanborn and Noah Sewell. Being 27 years old, however, he may have a tougher time even earning a practice squad spot than even undrafted rookies like Carl Jones Jr. and Paul Moala

Chicago fans hope White’s experience in spring football will help him in his pursuit of making the team’s 53-man roster or practice squad.
