While the Chicago Bears try to get their new-look offense going, they've been without a key offseason arrival since Week 1. Stud wide receiver Keenan Allen has been sidelined by a nagging heel injury he aggravated in the opener, and the issue was serious enough to keep him from practicing in any capacity over the past two weeks.

However, Allen's health situation finally changed on Wednesday.

As the Bears prepare for their Week 4 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday, head coach Matt Eberflus announced Allen would be a limited participant in the team's first practice. This marks the first session Allen has taken part in since Week 1.

Allen's practice return is nothing short of great news for Chicago. His prolonged absence had caused many to wonder about his health, and some questioned why the team didn't put him on the injured reserve list so they could sign someone to fill in during the meantime.

However, the Bears deciding not to place Allen on IR -- which would knock him out for at least four games -- showcased some optimism he'd be back sooner than the required four weeks. And it looks like their bet has paid off, as Allen now at least has a chance to play after missing only two previous games.

Having a proven safety blanket like Allen back in the lineup should help make things easier for rookie Caleb Williams, who is dealing with some early struggles; some of which are part of growing pains, and some of which are due to Chicago's disastrous offensive line.

Of course, the Bears won't rush Allen back if he's not 100%, and it's clear this injury is something to be cautious with. But even if he doesn't suit up on Sunday, a return in Week 5 looks like a given as long as he continues to progress.
