The Chicago Bears will have to fill the void left on their practice squad after seeing one of their players stolen by an AFC team on Wednesday.

According to ESPN’s Mike Reiss, the New England Patriots signed Bears defensive end Jamree Kromah from their practice squad. Kromah will be immediately added to New England’s 53-man roster ahead of its Week 3 game against the New York Jets.

The 24-year-old defensive lineman went undrafted following the 2024 NFL Draft but signed with the Bears in May. Kromah didn’t make a huge impact in the preseason as he posted three total tackles and a quarterback hit.

However, Kromah’s performance was good enough as he was signed to Chicago’s practice squad after not making the initial 53-man roster late last month. Kromah played his collegiate ball at Rutgers and James Madison.

In his three seasons at Rutgers, Kromah had 17 combined tackles, three tackles for loss, and a half sack. But when the 6-foot-4 defensive end transferred to James Madison for his last two years of school his game went to another level.

Kromah had a quiet 2022 campaign at JMU, recording 21 combined tackles, six tackles for loss, and 3.5 sacks. That said, it was a noticeable improvement from what he did at Rutgers. Then as a senior in 2023, Kromah came into his own as a player.

He started in all 13 games for the Dukes and had 60 total tackles, 11 sacks, and 20 tackles for loss.

Nonetheless, the former Bears defensive lineman will look to show off his pass-rush ability with the Patriots.
