Bears 7-Round Mock Draft Including Major First-Round Trade

With the 2024 NFL Draft rapidly approaching, we forecast a trade that could guarantee two new stars in Chicago. Down the board, a couple of key depth selections could make big differences now and later.

4. No. 122 overall (via Eagles): Cedrick Van Pran, C, Georgia

Given how sparse Poles’ draft coffers are this year, I could see either this pick or the 75th could be moved for later selections this year or next. Conversely, I could also see Poles and Co. prioritizing win-now moves (like a trade up for Adunze) as he and head coach Matt Eberflus enter a fulcrum year of the rebuild.

Let’s lean towards the latter and go with Cedrick Van Pran. Starting three straight seasons for a team that had a legitimate chance to win three titles is certainly a resume builder, but Van Pran was an anchor. His middling burst and slightly underwhelming weight (just under 300 pounds) is a somewhat concerning combination, but I’ll take one sack allowed over three years in the SEC.

As a player whose draft stock has been extremely volatile over the course of the year, there’s every chance he makes it nowhere near this pick or ends up a round later. Regardless, when your listed starting center is Coleman Shelton, it’s worth picking up a depth piece with pedigree if he’s there.
