The highly anticipated matchup between Angel Reese's Chicago Sky and Caitlin Clark's Indiana Fever more than lived up to the hype on Saturday. Unfortunately for Chicago, though, it left Indiana with a 71-70 loss in a game that featured plenty of controversy.

Making matters even worse, Reese has now seen her pay docked following the defeat.

After falling to her college rival and now WNBA counterpart Clark, Reese opted to forgo her required postgame media availability. As a result of breaking league rules, the former LSU star was handed a $1,000 fine on Sunday. The Sky have been docked $5,000 as well for "failing to ensure that all players comply with WNBA media policies."

This just adds to what will be a memorable game from the 2024 campaign. The contest itself featured plenty of entrainment, with Chennedy Carter going off for 19 points from the bench and Reese making a serious impact on the boards with 13 rebounds. Meanwhile, the Fever's entire starting lineup hit double digits, led by Kelsey Mitchell's 18.

Things ramped up a notch in the third quarter, however, when Carter apparently shoulder-checked Clark prior to an inbounds, which stirred a strong response from Indiana during and after the game. It was only called a common foul during the affair, but the leage upgraded this to a flagrant on Sunday as well.

It's clear Reese wasn't happy after falling to Clark again, while the Fever are obviously upset following the dangerous foul involving their young star. Luckily for the teams and their fans, these two sides won't have to wait long to exact some revenge, as they're scheduled to square off again on June 16 at 11 a.m. CT.
