6. Christian Bethancourt

Bethancourt is something of a cult hero himself after his seven-RBI game against the Pirates on Aug. 28 helped the Cubs come back from a 10-3 deficit in the seventh inning to win 14-10 and secure a sweep of their division rivals.

The Cubs struggled to get much offensive production from catchers early in the season as Miguel Amaya and Yan Gomes platooned, but Amaya stepped up after Gomes was designated for assignment.

Bethancourt along with Tomas Nido became one of the two backup catchers the Cubs signed after Gomes' departure, but neither seems to be in the team's long-term plans. Moises Ballesteros, the Cubs No. 4 and MLB No. 41 prospect, seems primed to come up to The Show next season and has the potential to become the starter behind the dish.
