4. Patrick Wisdom

The affectionately named P Wizzy is far removed from his 2021 season which saw him hit 28 home runs and finish fourth in NL Rookie of the Year voting.

Wisdom's plate appearances have decreased dramatically in just the past two seasons, going from 534 in 2022 to just 174 this year.

The 32-year-old has never been great defensively but the power-hitting output that typically carries him was missing this season as well: he only managed a .171 average with eight home runs and 23 RBI in the 75 games he played in 2024.

Wisdom signed a one-year, $2.7 million deal through the end of this season, but there isn't much to justify spending that to bring him back in 2025.

5. Miles Mastrobuoni

Perhaps best known for being the first MLB player to get a hit off of Pirates rookie ace Paul Skenes, Mastrobuoni is a bit of a cult hero in Chicago.

The superutilityman appeared sporadically in his second season for the Cubs, racking up 106 plate appearances in 50 games. While his talent on defense was evident at times (0.2 dWAR), the 28-year-old infielder could only manage a .194 batting average and a .470 OPS at the plate. He was optioned to the minors on Sept. 25.

Mastrobuoni's contract is up at the end of 2024 and, like Madrigal, he will probably be without a spot on the big league roster if big-name prospects make their debuts next season.
