4. Nate Davis, Offensive Line

There might be a way in which the New England Patriots help the Chicago Bears make the tough decision to cut Nate Davis.

Just hear me out...

The Patriots recently made the decision to cut veteran wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster, a free agent acquisition just last offseason who has been a complete and total bust for them. The Patriots weren't saving any money by cutting Smith-Schuster, but they decided the roster spot would be better invested in someone else.

Are the Bears in a similar position right now with Nate Davis?

It doesn't financially benefit the Bears to cut their former big-money free agent signing. But if Davis isn't going to be able to get out there on the field for the team -- and play well -- then they might be better off giving his roster spot to someone else and not worrying about the financial aspect of it.

Maybe they take a page out of the Patriots' book or even the Denver Broncos with Russell Wilson if you want to go that far. Teams have to be a little more emboldened these days to move on from players who were perhaps not the right culture fits, or who came with buyer beware tags that were ignored.

You can't help but feel for Ryan Poles on this one because the Bears need help on the offensive line. The ideal scenario would be Nate Davis figuring out how to stay healthy and being an asset to Chicago's offensive line.

But the Bears would have been better off drafting additional players for the offensive line. Heck, they might even be better off seeing if Kiran Amegadjie can play some guard and see about getting their best five out there at all times.
