6 Bears Who Could Be Cut Before Playing a Snap
By Randy Gurzi
5. Javin White, LB
Entering his second stint with the Chicago Bears, Javin White was signed near the end of July. A product of UNLV, White went undrafted in 2020 and started his career with the Las Vegas Raiders. Undersized for a linebacker at 6-foot-2 and 211 pounds, White played just 12 snaps on base defense in two years with the Raiders but was able to see the field for 68 snaps on special teams.
He still had just four tackles in two seasons before being released at the end of 2021. Ge finished that campaign on the New York Jets practice squad. His next stop was Chicago, signing with the Bears in July of 2022.
White never got to see the field, however, as he was injured in August and landed on the IR. He was able to secure another chance at proving himself when the Michigan Panthers of the USFL brought him in. Now, White looks to make good on opportunity No. 2 in the Windy City.
After the first preseason game, it doesn't appear as though he's going to have a spot on this roster. White didn't see the field until late in the game — which is never a good sign for a player fighting for a spot — and had just one tackle.
The Bears enter the season with T.J. Edwards, Tremaine Edmunds, and Jack Sanborn as their top linebackers. They also have Amen Ogbongbemiga, Noah Sewell, and Micah Baskerville who are all ahead of White. That's why he may see his second stint in Chicago end while still recording no snaps in the regular season.
