6 Bears on the Roster Bubble Heading Into Preseason Finale
By Randy Gurzi
The Chicago Bears had an extra preseason game this year thanks to their participation in the Hall of Fame Game. That means they're already 3-0 with one game left before they turn their focus to the regular season.
Their final preseason game will take place on Thursday the 22nd when the Bears travel to Kansas City to take on the Chiefs. It will be the first time we get to see Patrick Mahomes and Caleb Williams in the same game - although we don't know for sure if Mahomes will even take the field.
While that might be a storyline for the national media to delve into, the Bears are concerned with one thing - figuring out their 53-man roster. With that being the focus, here are six players who enter the final game on the bubble.
6. Khalid Kareem, Defensive End
A Notre Dame product selected in the fifth round of the 2020 NFL Draft, Khalid Kareem has yet to find his spot in the league. He spent two seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals, recording 28 tackles and one sack. Since then, he spent one year with the Indianapolis Colts and one with the Bears.
Over the past two seasons, he has one tackle in each year. Kareem looks the part at 6-foot-4 and 268 pounds. He's also on a roster void of any real pass-rushing threat outside of Montez Sweat.
Despite this, it feels as though he's on the outside looking in. The good news for Kareem is that no one else has truly stood out. So a strong finish to the preseason might be enough to give him one more chance.
