6 Bears on the Chopping Block After 2024 Minicamp
It's a new era for the Chicago Bears in 2024. The Caleb Williams era has begun and there's just a refreshed level of optimism throughout the Bears' fan base. Understandably so. But along with an improved roster comes the unfortunate and ugly reality of the NFL -- tough cuts and difficult decisions will have to be made.
Perhaps even some players who have helped lay the groundwork and foundation for where we're at today will be moving on in the near future. It's still very early in the offseason, but there are a few Bears players who could very well already be on the chopping block following minicamp.
Let's take a look at a few names.
1. Brett Rypien & Austin Davis, Quarterback
One of the toughest things to justify when you have a quality roster; is keeping three quarterbacks around. Especially when you consider the NFL's new kickoff rules and how those could impact virtually every aspect of your roster, keeping a third quarterback is a luxury most teams may not have anymore.
On the 53-man roster, at least.
The Bears signed veteran Brett Rypien this offseason and added Austin Davis after the 2024 NFL Draft as a priority free agent. With Caleb Williams and Tyson Bagent atop the depth chart right now, it's difficult to see how either Rypien or Davis will come out of the offseason program and training camp still on this Bears' roster.
