The Chicago Bulls finally kickstarted their rebuild this summer when they traded Alex Caruso and let DeMar DeRozan and Andre Drummond walk in free agency. Next up on their agenda is finding new homes for Zach LaVine and Nikola Vucevic. Due to the player-friendly nature of their contracts, LaVine and Vucevic will not be easy to trade.

One way the Chicago Bulls can overcome this problem is by taking on other bad contracts in potential trades. They can target buy-low candidates on negative-value contracts and try to rehabilitate their trade value.

Obviously, the Bulls need to prioritize younger players with some upside in such deals. Chicago is presumably hoping to bottom out next season, improve their draft lottery odds, and aim to be good in a few years. Moving on from LaVine and Vucevic will play a huge part in accomplishing all of these goals. Here are five players they could be targeting instead.

Tyler Herro

This is the exact type of player the Bulls need to be targeting. Tyler Herro is young and talented but is not a good fit on his current team and needs a fresh start. Plus, he is on a bad contract that the Miami Heat are trying to get out of.

Herro makes an average of $31 million for the next three seasons. As productive as he is offensively, he is not worth that contract. He has never played more than 67 games in a season and missed 40 last season. When he played, however, he averaged 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game in 33.5 minutes of action.

His defense is a problem, making him a less-than-ideal fit next to Josh Giddey but Herro can operate both and off the ball, making him an intriguing offensive partnership.
