The NFL Preseason kicks off this weekend and we will hopefully get our first look at the starters for at least a few drives or ideally a full quarter. The Bears are coming off a victory over the Houston Texans in the HOF Game that was called early due to weather. The Buffalo Bills will host the Bears this Saturday and Head Coach Sean McDermott has already confirmed Josh Allen and the starters will play the first quarter. At this time, Matt Eberflus has not done the same for the Bears but it is likely that it is announced soon.

We did not see any starters a week ago in the HOF game and not even some backup players. This week will be the first look at the starters as well as many backups fighting for positions. On top of this, there are still roster-bubble guys that will be playing for a spot on the final 53-man roster. There will be plenty to keep an eye on this Saturday, so let's take a look at five players with the most to prove against the Bills.

1. Khalil Herbert, HB

Herbert was the starting running back a year ago and played pretty well before suffering a high-ankle sprain against the Commanders. He missed time after that and did not look the same upon returning. The Bears signed D' Andre Swift this offseason to become the number-one back so the backup spot is now a competition between Herbert and second-year guy Roschon Johnson.

Johnson provides a more thumper style running than Herbert and will likely be the short yardage back no matter what. However, Herbert is now fully healthy and still provides a spark out of the backfield. We saw Johnson start the HOF game and Herbert come in after, so it will be interesting to see who gets the nod this week. It is worth noting Johnson did not practice on Wednesday and was not seen in pads Thursday so his workload this week is in question.
