5 Bears That Need to be More Involved Ahead of Sunday Night Football
2. Cole Kmet, TE
Cole Kmet is not in the same category as the Travis Kelces and George Kittles of the world, but I think we can all agree he can provide more than a 30-year-old journeyman who is playing for his fourth team. Gerald Everett is a fine tight end, but the Bears did not extend Kmet over the offseason to see him get fewer snaps than Everett. Everett played in 34 snaps compared to Kmet's 27. We know Waldron likes to rotate his tight ends a lot, but there has to be a better game plan than this in order to get your better tight end on the field more.
Kmet was asked about his low snap count on his new podcast, The Eighty-Five. He seemed to brush this aside by saying it's early in the season and he's willing to do whatever it takes to help the team. I think him being on the field more in general will help the team. A good run game, as I mentioned earlier, can be a young quarterback's best friend. Well, a dependable tight end is also up there on that list and it is important for Williams and Kmet to start building that chemistry together.
