5 Bears Free Agents Most Likely to Walk This Offseason
The Bears will have 15 players ready to hit free agency if deals are not made prior to the new league year on March 13. Jaylon Johnson is clearly the most important pending free agent the Bears have, but there are a handful of other players that a tough decision will need to be made on.
The Bears roster still has plenty of holes to fill after finishing 7-10 last season. Free agency and the draft will play a huge role in making this team ready to compete next year.
Let's take a look at five players that will likely be walking this offseason.
1. Darnell Mooney, WR
After the 2021 season, Darnell Mooney looked like a receiver the Bears were going to be able to build around and help Justin Fields take that next step so many thought he would. The unfortunate fact of the matter is that Mooney's play has fell off drastically since that 2021 season.
He has battled some injuries as well which did not help the situation by any means. Last season Mooney had career lows across the board with just 31 catches for 414 yards and one single touchdown.
Fields and Mooney did not look to be on the same page at all last season. Perhaps the addition of D.J. Moore plays a role in that, but a fresh a start could be best for both Mooney and the Bears at this point.
The wide receiver class coming into the league this season is one of the deepest in the draft so many believe the Bears will select a receiver with one of their current five draft picks. Mooney can still be a quality player in the league, but it does not seem like that will be with the Bears.
