3. Jaylin Simpson, S, Auburn

Eddie Jackson looks to have played his last down as a Chicago Bear this season.

His downfall in play on top of his hefty contract make him a prime cut-candidate for the Bears this offseason. Jaquan Brisker looks like a franchise player in the defensive backfield, but the Bears should be looking to pair someone up next to him.

Jaylin Simpson is versatile enough to play all over the backfield, but really excels when he is able to play center field and read the opposing quarterback. That is exactly the type of player the Bears need to compliment Brisker on the back end. He played all 13 games for Auburn last season in which he tallied 35 total tackles, four interceptions, three passes defended and a touchdown.

He isn't going to shoot the gap and meet running backs in the hole as he is listed at 6'1" and only 180 lbs. He can often be pushed around in the run game, but his ball and coverage skills easily make up for that.

Eddie Jackson was a diamond in the rough when the Bears selected him in the 4th round in 2017 - now they can possibly find his replacement in the same round or later in 2024.
