4 Most Likely Bulls To Be Traded Before the 2024-25 NBA Season
By Cem Yolbulan
Nikola Vucevic
Since Zach LaVine receives all the attention from the media and the fans, Vucevic and his terrible contract have gone under the radar. In reality, the 33-year-old center's contract could be equally difficult to move. Vucevic is due $41.5 million for the next two seasons. On paper, that may not seem like much but there simply isn't much interest in a player of Vucevic's profile.
Shooting 29.4% from three last season, Vucevic was one of the worst volume shooters in the NBA. His True Shooting percentage was 54, a miserable number for a center, making him one of the least efficient scorers in the league.
The problem is that scoring is supposed to be the thing Vucevic is good at. He is supposed to be a dominant offensive player but he is anything but.
His defensive deficiencies are an even bigger issue. The most important role of the center is anchoring the defense and protecting the paint. Vucevic is one of the worst defensive big men in the league, making him a very tough fit around the league. He was outplayed by Andre Drummond most of last season.
Therefore, Vucevic's best role is a scoring big man off the bench. However, no team is going to pay over $20 million for someone to play that role.
Should the Bulls be willing to move him by attaching draft picks?
Considering where they are as a franchise, that wouldn't be too smart, either. The Bulls should be accumulating draft capital, not giving them away. However, if a team is interested in Vucevic, the Bulls shouldn't think twice before moving on from him.
