4. Hector Neris, RHP

World Series contenders are always looking to bolster their bullpen ahead of the MLB postseason, which is why the Cubs might receive a lot of attention regarding veteran reliever Hector Neris.

The 35-year-old Dominican pitcher is a big reason why Chicago's bullpen has been respectable this season. In 37 relief appearances, Neris has gone 8-2 with a 3.63 ERA with 36 strikeouts across 34 2/3 innings. Although he's blown four save attempts thus far, his 14 saves on the year are the most since he racked up 28 with the Philadelphia Phillies in 2019.

Additionally, Neris has gotten hot at the right time which should only increase his trade appeal. The 6-foot-2, 227-pound righty hasn't allowed a single run in his last nine appearances (8.0 innings), amassing 12 strikeouts while holding opposing batters to five hits on a .179/.281/.286 slash line. If he maintains his current play, he could be a difference-maker come the playoffs.

Per ESPN's Jesse Rogers, Neris is one of the Cubs' trade pieces that is "drawing the most interest." Considering how he also has a team option for the 2025 campaign, I wouldn't be shocked if Chicago can recoup a decent prospect or two by moving the veteran hurler within the next few days.
