Yannick Ngakoue

The edge rusher did not have the impact that was hoped for when Poles signed him before last year's training camp.

He registered just four sacks in 13 games and missed the final four games of the season with an injury. The Bears were also asking him to play every down and he is pure pass-rushing specialist.

Ngakoue would be an ideal third-down rusher for the Bears as he is a veteran who never had less than eight sacks up until last season.

He recently posted a video of him working out and he looks to be recovered and in good shape. He knows the defense and in a specific role, he can impact the game. Plus, he is 29, and having him play on a prove-it deal might help him get motivated to play the run if he is asked to do it.

David Bakhtiari

Injuries have derailed a career where David Bakhtiari was once considered the best left tackle in the game. He played just one game for the Green Bay Packers last season. It was against the Bears and he did alright.

He has played just 13 games since the 2021 season, but it sounds like the procedure he had last year will allow him to continue his career.

Bakhtiari makes sense in terms of having a veteran tackle to push Larry Borom for the swing tackle job. If Bakhtiari can prove he is healthy, he is a much better option at left tackle to cover for Braxton Jones in case he goes down.

If he shows he is cooked, then cut him out before the season starts. It is the epitome of a low-risk, high-reward move.

One thing is for sure, Bakhtiari always could block Bears pass rushers well no matter what his health status was. If the New York Jets have not signed him by now, why not kick the tires on him?
