2. Dominique Robinson, EDGE

Opposite Montez Sweat, the Bears definitely need some players to step up off the edge. So far in training camp, the guy that's been making the most noise has been veteran journeyman Jacob Martin.

That's not terrible news, because you obviously want to see Martin excel, but it's also not great news, either. The Bears have a number of young players they are going to be looking at to play significant roles in the defense this season, otherwise they might have to supplement in terms of adding a veteran free agent.

Dominique Robinson is one of those players the team has been holding out hope for as a fifth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft. Robinson was raw coming out of the college level but certainly, they expected a little bit more out of him in his third training camp.

Windy City Gridiron has Robinson as one of the top players under the microscope early in the preseason:

"Robinson started off his rookie year with a flash, getting 1.5 sacks in his first game. Since then, he hasn’t done much. In fact, in the latter part of the 2023 season, he wasn’t even dressing for some games. He is one player who truly is on the bubble and has to have a strong pre-season in order to even be considered for the 53-man roster. The Bears have brought in too much competition at the Edge position for him to be a lock to make the roster. The team will more than likely keep four edge players, and right now, Robinson may be running five or six on the depth chart."

It's possible we could end up seeing Robinson hit waivers by the time the regular season rolls around if he doesn't pick up the pace.
