3 Free Agents the Bears Should Sign Before NFL Draft

Another position of need ahead of the draft for the Bears is on the interior defensive line. They lost defensive tackle Justin Jones in free agency and haven't replaced him yet. They currently have Andrew Billings, Gervon Dexter, and Zacch Pickens as their rotation but they need another established veteran in the mix.

That's where Teair Tart comes in. The 27-year-old was released by the Titans last season after 3.5 seasons in Tennessee before signing with the Houston Texans towards the end of the season. The former undrafted free agent started in 36 games for the Titans and established himself as a solid depth option.

According to PFF, Tart had his best season in 2022, posting a 73.1 grade for his defense, 67.0 for run defense, and 75.9 for pass rush. He wasn't able to replicate those numbers last season but at age 27, he is still young enough to have enough juice to get back to his more productive days.

Considering that the Bears will likely not use their ninth overall pick for the defensive line and the fact that they don't have a second-round pick in this year's draft makes it that much more important that they address this need in free agency. And there just aren't too many high-end defensive linemen left on the market.
