3 Free Agents Bears Must Sign if They're Sticking With Justin Fields

If Justin Fields somehow remains the QB for the Bears, they need to sign these 3 free agents

2. Darrell Taylor, EDGE

In need of a star pass-rusher, the Bears traded for Montez Sweat at the deadline in 2023. He was added in exchange for a second-round pick as the Washington Commanders were unwilling to extend him. With Sweat in the final year of his rookie deal, Chicago wasted no time signing him to a four-year extension worth $98 million — including $72 million guaranteed.

Sweat repaid them with 25 tackles and 6.0 sacks in nine games, giving him 57 tackles and 12.5 sacks on the season. Moving forward, he's going to be their premier pass rusher but they would love to add a secondary rusher as well.

Last year, Yannick Ngakoue would have been perfect in that role but he struggled with injuries. This season, they can turn their attention to free agency and pick up Darrell Taylor who is a restricted free agent for the Seattle Seahawks. While that means Seattle can match any offer, the sides can work something out to make the pairing happen.

This move might not directly help Justin Fields since Taylor is on the other side of the ball but it still could keep the score from getting out of reach. And every quarterback can appreciate that.
