3 Free Agent Targets to Prepare the Bears for Caleb Williams' Arrival
2. Marquise Brown, WR
You can never have too many playmakers for your young quarterback, as we saw with the Carolina Panthers in 2023 (in a bad way).
When you don't have depth at the wide receiver position, you immediately set your young quarterback up for failure. When you don't have guys that can separate or create, you limit the growth of that quarterback.
The Bears have a chance to go out and snag former first-round pick Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, who most recently played for the Arizona Cardinals. The trade from Baltimore to Arizona didn't exactly work out the way either Brown or the Cardinals had hoped, even reuniting him with fellow former Oklahoma Sooners QB Kyler Murray.
He had 51 receptions for 574 yards and four touchdowns this past season for Arizona and obviously still has explosive speed and playmaking ability. The Bears need another speed threat after watching Darnell Mooney leave for the Falcons in free agency, and Brown could provide exactly that.
Like Mooney, Brown has shown his ability to be a higher-volume target in the past despite being known primarily as a speed threat, racking up 1,000 yards back in the 2021 season for the Ravens. He has over 100 targets in each of the last four seasons and could be an interesting option to pair up with DJ Moore.
