One of the remaining needs for the Chicago Bears ahead of next season is more depth in the offensive line. Veterans Ryan Bates and Coleman Shelton were signed in free agency and they will compete for the starting spot at center between Teven Jenkins and Nate Davis. However, an upgrade and more depth could be needed throughout the O-line.

Halapoulivaati Vaitai has the versatility and experience to play multiple positions. He started his career at right tackle in Philadelphia, then moved to left tackle, and has been playing guard for the Detroit Lions over the past four seasons.

The 30-year-old is not the player he used to be when he was with the Eagles early in his career but he was still effective when he suited up over the past few years. The issue is that those times have been far and between lately as he only played in six games over the last two years.

However, in those six games, he allowed only one sack and no QB hits. He still graded well on PFF with a 68.4 pass block grade in 2023.

If Vaitai feels healthy and ready to play for another season, he would be an intriguing depth option with his Super Bowl experience and versatility. That could be very valuable in keeping Caleb Williams upright in his rookie campaign.
