3 Ex-Bears Still Without a Job After Cody Whitehair Signing
By Jovan Alford
3. Eddie Jackson
The veteran safety was released in February along with Whitehair by the Bears. The decision to let go of Jackson and Whitehair didn’t surprise Chicago fans who saw the writing on the wall for both players.
The 30-year defensive back saw his production dip dramatically in 2023 as he had 37 combined tackles, five deflections, and an interception. Jackson also posted a 60 completion percentage allowed on targets, a 120.6 pass rating allowed when targeted (second-worst of his career), and gave up three touchdowns.
However, when you look at what Jackson did in 2022, it was a 360-degree difference. During that season, the vet posted 80 combined tackles, six pass deflections, four interceptions, and two forced fumbles. He also had a 61.8 completion percentage allowed on targets, a 66.4 pass rating allowed when targeted, and only allowed one receiving touchdown.
Even though it looked like he fell off in 2023, there’s a chance that Jackson could find that magic he had in 2022. Jackson can still be a solid starter for a team looking for safety help, but he will likely get picked up after the draft is done.
