3 Combine Standouts that the Bears Must Target in the NFL Draft
2. Rome Odunze, WR, Washington
Early in the draft process, many thought (and still think) that Justin Fields is the man to build around moving forward. However, the media has shifted its focus on Caleb Williams being the guy the Bears take.
We honestly won't know until the day of the draft. Before the thought of Caleb Williams, many Bears fans were trading down in mock drafts and selecting arguably the best player in the class, Marvin Harrison Jr.
With all signs likely pointing to Williams, the Bears will have to miss out on the Harrison sweepstakes, unless they miraculously trade up. It is certainly not out of the question, but with the limited draft capital, Poles might not go that route of trading up. Many speculate that Harrison Jr. and Malik Nabers will be off the board before the Bears select at nine.
What if Rome Odunze falls onto the Bears' lap? Many scenarios can occur on draft night, but the Bears need to land Willams and Odunze. The offense desperately needs a tremendous upside-level change. Odunze fits that mold of a player the Bears want both on and off the field. His NFL Combine interview was stellar.
He stayed on the field to ensure he completed each drill with dedication and precision.
The Bears need more blue-chip performers to add to the growing foundation. Adding a player of Odunze's caliber would enhance the offense. The tandem of him and D.J. Moore would be dangerous for the NFC North. A blend of a veteran presence would take off a lot of strain and help transition Odunze later in his career to become the top receiver on the team for many years to come.
