3. Dominique Robinson/Jacob Martin, EDGE

Another intriguing position battle for the Chicago Bears this offseason will be off the edge. One of the most fortuitous moves the Bears made -- at least when you talk about Matt Eberflus keeping his job this year -- was trading for pass rusher Montez Sweat at last year's deadline.

The Bears took advantage of the Washington Commanders having a fire sale, and Sweat brought a much-needed presence off the edge for Chicago.

As big of a difference as Sweat made in his first season with the Bears (or fraction of a season), Chicago is going to need someone else to step up on the other side of the field in the pass rush department. They are going to be expecting DeMarcus Walker to once again play a big role when it comes to getting after the quarterback, but Walker is not an "EDGE" player.

Players like 2022 fifth-round pick Dominique Robinson and free agent acquisition Jacob Martin are undoubtedly on thin ice as we head into the deeper portion of the 2024 offseason for Chicago. Robinson is now entering his third NFL season and has just 2.0 sacks in 28 career games.

Jacob Martin has been a valuable depth piece and special teams player throughout the course of his NFL career, but is he going to be able to take on much of an expanded role?

These guys may be in danger of losing snaps to rookie Austin Booker, or possibly force Bears GM Ryan Poles to go the free agency/trade route to find someone who can truly complement Montez Sweat this season.
