The Chicago Bears have officially ushered in the Caleb Williams era with training camp practices getting going and fans finally getting an up-close look at their new franchise quarterback. But the performance of Williams is being covered from every angle at this point. What about some of the rest of his supporting cast out there?

Williams has a talented group of receivers to throw to. The Bears have made a number of other high-profile additions to a roster that expects to at least compete for a Wild Card playoff spot this coming season.

What players have been the biggest surprises in the early goings of training camp so far in 2024?

1. Tyler Scott, wide receiver

When you talk about players who went into training camp with little to no expectations, you'd have to say wide receiver Tyler Scott is relatively close to the top of the list. Scott was a fourth-round pick last year for the Bears and while he's certainly talented (and fast), the Bears' other high-profile additions at receiver seemed to put Scott's status in the rotation in limbo, at best.

Oddly enough (or maybe it's not odd at all), Scott has been one of Caleb Williams' favorite targets so far in the early goings of training camp:

The great thing about Tyler Scott is that he brings a different variety to the wide receiver group that you don't really see from the other top guys at the position. DJ Moore doesn't lack speed, by any means, but he's a bigger-bodied receiver who excels after the catch and with a high volume of work. Keenan Allen is another bigger receiver who runs crisp routes and wins with strong hands and veteran savvy.

Rome Odunze is a little bit of everything at the position, but another big-bodied receiver.

Scott isn't the biggest player at the receiver position (5-foot-11, 185 pounds) but he's very fast and can give the Bears a game-changing dynamic in that aspect.
