3. Teven Jenkins

It was a tough decision. It was between either Jaquan Brisker or Teven Jenkins. Brisker has proven he can play at an elite level and lead the secondary, but injuries have been a big issue. Health is his biggest flaw at the moment.

However, Teven Jenkins has more riding on a healthy and successful season. He is in the final year of his contract and is looking for an extension. Like his teammate Jaylon Johnson, Jenkins did not receive one at the beginning of the year.

He and his team approached upper management, and they told him it would be rediscussed later in the season. It has not been an ideal start for Jenkins, but there is still time to prove he can earn that second contract with the Bears.

Jenkins has proven to be the best offensive lineman. He was taken in the 2021 NFL Draft by previous General Manager Ryan Pace. Ryan Poles did not select Jenkins, but that has not stopped him from resigning previous regime draft picks. However, Cole Kmet and Jaylon Johnson received contract extensions from Poles and his staff.

Poles is not afraid to reward homegrown talent drafted by someone else. Many argue that Teven deserves that contract extension, but like with the Jaylon Johnson situation, Jenkins has to prove he can earn it.

With an inflated and overpriced offensive guard market, Jenkins can receive a big payday. It's understandable why Poles is approaching it with cautious optimism. Paying $10 million for Nate Davis, who has missed a significant amount of time, has not worked well for the team. Teven has to stay healthy. That is all he has to do.

At a highly efficient rate, he is an elite pass protector and dominates the run game. Playing in every regular season game will not only make him a pro bowl level guard, but he will earn that contract extension and fulfill his dreams of playing for the Chicago Bears for many more years.
