3 Bears Who Will Be Traded by the End of October

The Chicago Bears are 2-2 to begin the 2024 NFL season. However, if they begin to trend in the wrong direction, these three players could be traded soon.

2. T.J. Edwards, LB

The Bears had one of the better defenses in the NFL last season and T.J. Edwards' contributions played a big role in that success. After signing a three-year, $19.5 million contract last offseason, Edwards went on to amass 91 solo tackles, 2.5 sacks, seven broken-up passes, and three interceptions across 17 games in 2023.

Having said that, Edwards hasn't made the same impact this season. While the former Wisconsin defender is averaging 5.3 tackles per game just as he did last year, that's all he's done outside of a fumble recovery. Pro Football Focus is also giving him an overall defense grade of 59.2, which is only No. 48 among 80 eligible linebackers and much worse than last season's mark (79.6).

If Edwards doesn't turn things around quickly, the Bears could try to move him before Nov. 5. Chicago might want to improve in other areas through the trade market, and moving Edwards — who carries a $7.5 million cap hit — is one way to help with that goal.

Edwards is also only 28 years old, meaning a potential suitor might think that he's young enough to return to his 2023 form. The fact that he's also under contract for the 2025 campaign at $7 million makes him more than just a one-year rental.

With how stacked the Bears' defense is, moving Edwards within the next month is a real possibility.
