3 Bears Most Likely to Be Traded Before Roster Cutdown Day
By Randy Gurzi
There's more excitement surrounding the Chicago Bears this year than there has been in recent memory. The primary reason is the No. 1 overall pick Caleb Williams.
They've had first-round quarterbacks before but Williams seems to be the difference-maker they've been missing. As impressive as he's looked, Chicago doesn't have to lean on him alone. They've done a good job rebuilding the roster and should be a competitive team this year.
First, they have to decide who makes it to the 53-man roster. The cuts won't be easy and some good players will be on the outside looking in. With that being the case, here are three Bears who could be traded ahead of the cut-down day.
3. Noah Sewell, LB
After posting 114 tackles, four sacks, and an interception in 2021, Noah Sewell was hyped up as the best linebacker in the 2023 class. Then in 2022, his performance took a step in the wrong direction. He had just 56 tackles and 1.5 sacks, leading to a belief that he might not be an every-down starter in the NFL.
Sewell wound up sliding into the fifth round. Even being a late-round pick, he was able to join the same league as his brothers Penei Sewell and Nephi Sewell. For good measure, their cousin is Kingsley Suamataia, proving what a talented family they are.
As a rookie, Sewell recorded just nine tackles in 13 games. This year, he finds himself buried on the depth chart once again. The Bears might want to continue to develop him but there's also a chance they could look to trade him to a franchise in need of a run-stuffing linebacker.
