3 Bears Fighting For Their Jobs After Free Agency
2. Roschon Johnson, RB
The Chicago Bears' decision to go after former Philadelphia Eagles and Detroit Lions running back D'Andre Swift in free agency has pushed the running back room that carried over from last year down a notch.
Swift should be expected to be the lead back in Chicago this season. That's no surprise. Khalil Herbert was the team's leading rusher (at the running back position) last season with 611 yards on the ground and D'Onta Foreman was behind him at 425 yards. Behind Foreman was a promising young player out of Texas -- Roschon Johnson -- a player fans in Chicago quickly became fond of.
Although his touches were fairly limited, Johnson ended up 5th on the Bears' roster in total yards from scrimmage. He caught 34 passes -- 3rd on the team -- and proved he had the ability to play on all three downs.
There's no doubt that he has the type of skill set to be able to contribute, but with both Swift and Herbert on the roster, how often are we going to see him out there on the field? The addition of Swift certainly puts Johnson's role and job in some type of jeopardy.
