11 Bears Who Will Be Cut By Tuesday's Roster Deadline
4. Larry Borom, Offensive Tackle
Even before the Bears' final preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Larry Borom's roster chances weren't looking great. Bear Goggles On talked about him "sliding" off the roster just a few days ago:
Borom has played both left and right tackle with the Bears, but he has mostly played the left side in the Ryan Poles era. He filled in for Braxton Jones last season and it was a clear issue.
The offense came alive late in the season when Borom left the lineup. So, the Bears made sure they were not reliant on him anymore.
They drafted Kiran Amegadjie and signed Jake Curhan. Curhan has been the right tackle, and Amegadjie has been injured this offseason. Still, they just activated the rookie, and Curhan comes in with experience in the Shane Waldron offense. He has also looked better than Borom this preseason.

The connection between offensive coordinator Shane Waldron and Jake Curhan may have spelled the end for Larry Borom in the first place, but Borom getting carted off the field against the Chiefs is not only an ugly way for his preseason to end, but potentially his tenure with the Chicago Bears as well.
Although Borom could be placed on injured reserve, having that amount of cap space sitting on IR isn't likely something Ryan Poles is going to do if Borom isn't going to contribute to this team. The Bears would have over $3 million committed to Borom on IR and they could save over $3.1 million by letting him go.
With Curhan on the roster along with 2024 third-round pick Kiran Amegadjie and veteran Matt Pryor, the Bears probably aren't going to lose much sleep at night if they do end up parting ways with Larry Borom.
