Pete Crow-Armstrong has become one of the hottest names in baseball, and nobody is wondering why. He continues to tear through the summer putting up historic numbers. PCA has continuously exemplified the aspects that make a great baseball player both on and off of the field.

The face of baseball's next generation

For me, I grew up watching Sammy Sosa. I can recall idolizing him not only for his smash hitting ability, but because he represented something to me that was so much larger. To see the Cubs take Wrigley field with Sosa donning those beautiful blue pinstripes is something that was burned into my memory for the rest of time.

Now think of the entire generation of kids that are growing up right now. They're watching PCA, and they're falling in love with baseball because of it. The impact he's had on not only Cubs fans, but baseball fans everywhere is immeasurable.

"I don't [internalize accomplishments]. I've got a lot more baseball to play. I'll be going home thinking about my last at-bat and how I'd approach that one if I face him again tomorrow. A lot more baseball to play and a series to close out tomorrow."

I've said it a million times, but the MLB season is a marathon. It’s a long and slow grind that can wear any player into dust. But for those in PCAs shoes, it's not so simple to just slip into the shadows of the dugout. He's the face of the franchise. He's the icon that kids will think of when they think of the Cubs in the 2020s.

The mere fact that PCA is already compartmentalizing his duties and remaining on focus shows us that he's precisely the right man for the job. This shows us that he has not only the talent to do it, but the determination and willpower to make it happen.

PCA is already a staple when it comes to MVP talks. But the trajectory is bigger than that. PCA may be the hottest names in baseball right now, but if anyone is able to hoist the Cubs onto his back and drive us through the second half of the season, its him. He just needs to take things one step at a time.
