NFL Makes Huge Announcement on Bears Defender in Week 14
By Jovan Alford
The Chicago Bears are coming off a terrible loss last week on Thanksgiving to the Detroit Lions.
Chicago started slowly against the Lions, but eventually figured it out in the second half, only to lose in the waning moments of the fourth quarter. The Bears hope to snap their six-game losing streak under interim head coach Thomas Brown on Sunday.
However, it won’t be easy as the Bears will face a San Francisco 49ers’ squad that was humiliated in back-to-back weeks by the Green Bay Packers and Buffalo Bills. But before Sunday’s game kicks off at 4:25 p.m. ET/3:25 p.m. CT, one outstanding piece of news needs to be handled from last week’s loss.
According to Kevin Fishbain of The Athletic, Bears second-year cornerback Tyrique Stevenson was fined $19,697 for unsportsmanlike conduct when he tripped Lions wide receiver Jameson on the sideline. However, Williams was not fined, despite being flagged for taunting on the play.
Bears fans weren’t happy to hear about Stevenson’s fine as the young cornerback was already under fire for his actions in Chicago’s Week 8 loss to the Washington Commanders. If you remember, the young cornerback was taunting fans instead of focusing on the last play of the game, which ended up being a Noah Brown game-winning touchdown.
The worst part about this fine was that Stevenson wasn’t on the field. The former second-round pick was on the sidelines and stuck his leg out to trip Williams.
Then Stevenson was seen talking to Williams, which led to the Lions WR throwing the ball at his face.
The 2024 season has been one to forget for Stevenson, who made significant strides as a rookie last year. Nonetheless, Stevenson has a chance to have a fresh start under a new head coach and hopefully will make a game-changing play against the 49ers.
