The Windy City is buzzing as Chicago Bears head coach Ben Johnson continues his first training camp with the franchise. Expectations are high surrounding the Bears after four consecutive seasons without a playoff berth, and it'll be up to Johnson and his coaching staff to weed out the roster pretenders so that Chicago can enter the 2025 NFL season with the best 53-man unit possible.

The Bears have spent the offseason signing several veterans to help make Johnson's life as smooth as possible, and the additions continued right up to the start of training camp. On July 22, Chicago signed defensive end Tanoh Kpassagnon to a one-year contract, looking to bolster their pass-rush depth.

Unfortunately, the veteran defender's time with the Bears has already hit a major roadblock.

Bears DE Tanoh Kpassagnon Leaves Monday's Practice on Cart

The Chicago Tribune's Brad Biggs is reporting that Kpassagnon left Monday's practice on a medical cart, sparking concerns across the Bears fan base. According to Biggs, "it could be a right wrist/hand issue" that the former Villanova product suffered, leaving his immediate future up in the air.

Reports from Bears beat writers have been similar since Kpassagnon was assisted off the field. No one really saw what happened to the 31-year-old disruptor; however, the consensus is that he hurt his hand at some point during practice.

Training camp injuries are a reality of the NFL grind, and Chicago fans are hoping that the recent addition doesn't miss too much time with the preseason looming.

Kpassagnon is an experienced pass rusher who's played 104 regular-season games (34 starts) between the Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints, as well as eight postseason games. He's racked up 16.5 sacks in the regular season and another three in the playoffs, giving the Bears another proven name who knows how to attack quarterbacks.

Hopefully, Kpassagnon's injury is a minor one, so that he can return to action sooner rather than later. The Kalamazoo, MI native is looking to have a bounce-back performance after an Achilles tear limited him to three appearances with the Saints last season. For his sake, history better not repeat itself following Monday's injury.

As Kpassagnon recovers, the Bears will turn to their depth defensive linemen to step up. Chicago fans will be keeping a close eye on names like Jamree Kromah, Xavier Carlton, Daniel Hardy, and Chris Williams to step up, leaving time to tell if any of the bubble defenders are up to the task.

In other words, the DL competition is about to get a lot more heated in the Windy City.
