The Chicago Bears 2024 season has gone down the drain. After a promising 4-2 start to the year, Chicago has dropped six straight games and owns a 4-8 record.

The 23-20 loss against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving Day was a complete and utter disaster. Quarterback Caleb Williams was sacked with 34 seconds left in the game but Chicago failed to utilize their final timeout. They ran one more play, which fell incomplete. The mismanagement of the clock was one of the worst you'll see from a professional team.

That loss certainly caused a rift within the locker room. Many fans were hoping that Eberflus would be relieved of his duties on Friday but his comments showcase that won't be the case.

Bears News: Matt Eberflus Thinks He’ll Be Coaching Chicago in Week 14

Eberflus was speaking with team reporters via Zoom on Friday and he's confident he'll be on the sideline in Week 14.

"I'm confident I'll be working to San Francisco and coaching that game."

While that statement will bother Bears fans, this shouldn't be surprising. Chicago has never fired a coach midseason in team history. No matter how bad things get, they rather keep everyone in place and make moves in the offseason.

The latest loss against the Lions was the final nail in Eberflus's tenure with the Bears. It appears extremely unlikely that he will be back on the sideline during the 2025 campaign. Despite that, it looks like the 54-year-old will be the lead man for this team in Week 14 against the 49ers.

The same sentiment might not be the same if the Bears lay another egg but as of now, Eberflus is confident that he will remain the coach.
