The Chicago Bears have plenty of questions across their depth chart entering training camp. All eyes will be on the left tackle and center competitions, and the entire defensive line will have attention throughout the summer. The third wide receiver and how much they use three tight ends is a hotly debated topic as well. However, one position that is flying under the radar despite massive changes is linebacker.
Chicago Bears are seeing a much different linebacker room in 2026
The room could look completely different in 2026 compared to what they saw in 2025. The biggest question will be T.J. Edwards. Edwards suffered a broken fibula later in the season last year. So, there is a chance he will miss the start of the year.
The Bears placed him on the Physically Unable to Perform list, but Ian Rappaport noted that Edwards is expected to be cleared to practice soon. Still, his status and ability to perform are proceeding seemingly unnoticed.
He will bring the continuity, as Tremaine Edmunds is gone. The other name that is flying under the radar is free agent Devin Bush. Bush is a former top-ten pick. However, in his six NFL seasons, he has only lived up to that billing in one year.
The Bears paid him as if they believe they can get that one year of production from him moving forward. His resume says the team overpaid him. This will be a development to follow.
More than that, D’Marco Jackson got some playing time for the injured Edwards and Edmunds last year. So, the Bears extended him. Now, the question is how he deals with the new extension after being an NFL journeyman. More than that, how does he work in as the third linebacker?
Do they need him to replace Bush or Edwards?
The depth gets interesting as well. Keyshaun Elliott is a rookie, so his development will be worth watching in training camp.
They also have Ruben Hyppolite, Jack Sanborn and Noah Sewell. Hyppolite was drafted in 2025, but he might not even make the roster in 2026 due to the room being so deep. Sewell has been a special teams ace, and the Bears just re-signed Sanborn to be involved in the same area. They seem to like those two over Hyppolite.
From the top linebacker all the way down to the bottom of the depth chart, this room has plenty to watch this summer.
