The Bears are rolling with two straight impressive wins, though will likely be missing a critical starter in Week 6 as safety Jaquan Brisker is not traveling with the team to London to take on the Jaguars.

Brisker reported experiencing concussion-like symptoms on Monday after a big collision with Panthers TE Tommy Tremble that knocked Tremble out of Sunday's contest. While Brisker finished the game, he was officially diagnosed with a concussion on Monday.

This is the third concussion of the 2022 second-rounder's career. A key leader of the secondary, he's blossomed into one of the NFL's best safeties and represents a massive loss for Chicago's defense.

Bears S Jaquan Brisker Not Traveling to London Due to Concussion

Brisker could rejoin the team later in the week if he clears concussion protocol. However, that's an unlikely possibility considering the early Sunday start and the timeline of his injury.

He finished Week 5 with five tackles, a deflected pass, and a forced fumble in a dominant 36-10 victory. In Week 4, Brisker had one of his finest games as a pro, notching 12 tackles and one sack, interception, and deflected pass each while helping contain a fearsome Rams offense.

Should he miss this week, third-year safety Elijah Hicks will presumably step into a starting role.

Through five games, Brisker is on pace for 136 tackles while opposing quarterbacks have a 70.8 passer rating when targeting him. He had over 100 tackles in each of his first two years with the Bears, yet his improving work in pass coverage has been a big storyling for Chicago's defense.

CB Terell Smith and DT Zacch Pickens are also not traveling with the team, though they've already missed the last few weeks as well. Bears fans should keep a close eye on reports regarding Brisker's symptoms this week. The Jaguars are only 1-4 but Trevor Lawrence can still be a dangerous passer, and Jacksonville's extensive experience in London could give them an edge.

Chicago should be cautious with Brisker given his history of concussions. Expect him to miss Week 6, yet it's clear that the Bears' defense will be worse without the rising star.
